  • Why go with ADRA Connections?

    Going on a Connections trip is more than 10 days of adventure in service, more than fundraising for a good cause, and more than the friends-for-life you’ll make.

    With ADRA Connections you can have 5x the impact, while having the experience of a lifetime. Here’s how it works:

    Most projects in the ADRA Connections program receive the 5 to 1 match funding from the Australian government. When you register and fundraise for a trip eligible for match funding, you unlock funds that will continue to change lives even after your trip. Because of the multiplying effect, the more your team raises, the further your impact spreads.

    Thanks to ADRA’s partnership with the Australian Government, the hours you volunteer for any Connections project also unlocks up to an additional $4,000 per person, helping even more people.

  • How do I join an ADRA Connections trip?

    ADRA Connections offers trips for teams and individuals. If you are part of a team of people looking for an exciting opportunity, your team leader can sort ‘type of trip’ by ‘teams’ on our Trips page.

  • What is included in my ADRA Connections experience?

    Every aspect of your ADRA Connections experience has been chosen so you can immerse yourself in the culture, connect with the locals and experience the country. An ADRA Host from the Country Office will accompany your team to ensure that your trip goes as smoothly as possible. All accommodation, food and logistics throughout the duration of your trip, unless otherwise stated in the itinerary, are organised for you. Travel insurance and access to 24/7 International SOS support is also included for every trip.

    Additional sightseeing outside of your trip itinerary is not included. See the additional add-ons offered for your trip or make your own arrangements outside of the Connections trip dates at your own cost.

    Travel costs (e.g. flights and visas unless otherwise indicated, extra baggage allowance, airport tax, passport, and vaccinations) are your responsibility, including all bookings and arrangements.

  • Will I be safe?

    Keeping participants safe is ADRA Connections’ highest priority. Country Offices complete a comprehensive risk assessment and emergency management plan, and undergo compulsory training to prepare them for hosting Connections trips. An ADRA Host from the Country Office will accompany your team while you are in-country.

    Your Team leaders are trained on team management and emergency management, however, it is your responsibility to attend team meetings and read Connections materials provided to mitigate risk.

    Upon registering as a Connections participant, you are granted 24/7 access to International SOS, the world’s largest medical and travel security services firm, leading up to, during, and after your trip. ADRA also partners with Risk Management Services to provide you with comprehensive travel insurance for the duration of your trip.

  • What does it cost?

    We’ve broken it down into 3 simple components so that you can concentrate on making the biggest impact possible.

    1. Impact costs go directly to the ADRA project you’re supporting. For projects eligible for government match funding, every dollar will be multiplied 5x, meaning you get to help even more people.

    2. Experience costs includes accommodation, meals, transport and safety costs, and a $300 registration fee which is not refundable.

    3. Optional Add-On costs offer you the opportunity to do some sightseeing.

    Your Impact costs, Experience costs and registration fee are fully tax-deductible and fundraisable. Optional add-ons are not.

    You can only claim tax-deductibility for donations you have personally made to ADRA contributing to your Impact and Experience via GoFundraise, credit card, or direct deposit. You are not eligible to claim tax-deductibility for donations made to your GoFundraise page or trip costs by supporters other than yourself.

  • How do I fundraise?

    ADRA Connections partners with fundraising experts GoFundraise to help make fundraising even easier for you. Upon registration, you will receive a fundraising guide and instructions on setting up your online fundraising page. Through our partnership with GoFundraise, you have 24/7 access to their online resources and a dedicated customer care team who can answer your questions.

    Funds raised through GoFundraise goes to your Impact and Experience costs, and your supporters are automatically issued with a tax-deductible receipt upon donating to your fundraising page.

  • What do I need to register?

    As part of the online registration process, we require some things from you to assess your suitability for overseas travel and to secure your position on the team. ADRA’s Child Protection Policy also requires Australian citizens aged 18 years and over to undergo a criminal check through Fit2Work. We will submit this for processing on your behalf.

    You can start preparing the following as soon as possible to help your registration process go as smoothly as possible:

    Everyone

    Medical Clearance form signed by a doctor

    • Passport with at least 6 months’ validity from your return date

    • $300 registration fee to secure your positions on the team

    Australian passport holders aged 18 and over

    • Completed National Police Checking Service (NPCS) Application/Consent form

    Minimum proof of ID (e.g. Australian passport, driver licence, medicare card, bank card) certified by an authorised person

    • $300 registration fee to secure your positions on the team
